Guitar Craftology
Wolford Guitars combine lessons learned as custom instrument maker designing and building bespoke instruments with the experience gained manufacturing hundreds of guitars in a production environment. Bringing these two aspects together, Wolford Guitars offer a new vision in contemporary electric guitar making.
Guitar Craftology provides a platform for:
- A non-elitist, yet individual product of quality
- Tooling to aid and improve but not replace the craft of an artisan
- Keeping items desirable but affordable
- Freedom to create, experiment and innovate
- A craftsperson getting satisfaction from their trade
Who is behind Wolford Guitars?
As a budding luthier, Jens J Hucke started a small custom guitar shop on a London industrial estate in 1991, before relocating to the Midlands 5 years later, and getting involved with a company designing manufacturing and supplying UK made guitars to a few dozen musical instrument shops and outlets. Born in Germany, raised in France, and currently living in the UK, Jens J Hucke has been referred in the specialist press as "honorary Brit luthier", and has had close to a dozen instrument reviews published over the years, as well as worldwide exposure in magazines and trade fairs.
In order to mark his upcoming 20th year since originally getting involved in guitar making, he wanted to celebrate his independence and promote a new way forward for small scale guitar manufacture.
"Wolford Guitars are the best project I have ever been involved with. Design, specs and manufacture are benefiting from lessons learned over nearly two decades of involvement in the Musical Instrument Industry and Guitar R&D. These new instruments are very personal and I am very grateful for the opportunity to build and present them." - JJH
